OH MY GOODNESS GUYS, make these now...and thank me later. Hands down, this is my favorite sweet recipe I have ever made. Its creamy, it's ooey gooey, AND it's crunchy if you top with cacao nibs. It's literally the dessert dream trifecta. I stuff dates with nut butter and cacao nibs for dessert a lot, but these cups take that combination of flavors to the next level. Not to mention, these bad boys are packed with maca and cinnamon. Two superfoods I love.
Maca is a hormone balancing adaptogen that also just so happens to support the adrenals, win win! It's adaptogenic properties make it the perfect PMS supplement and can potentially help you find relief from mood swings, fluid retention, and tender boobs. It's also been dubbed as "natures viagra"...so theres that libido enhancing component as well. I personally (well lets me real, my stomach) prefer maca in it's gelatinized form, but it's all about finding what works best for you!
Cinnamon yields a natural sweet flavor with no added sugar and adds warmth and depth to these cups! It also is a spice with medicinal properties, so long as you're buying the proper varietal (Ceylon or Cassia cinnamon). Cinnamon is loaded with antioxidants, has been proven to have anti-inflammatory effects and can lower blood sugar levels.
Ready for the recipe? It yields 6 cups, but feel free to double or triple as needed ;)
Ingredients // Pantry items:
1/4 cup cacao butter
1/4 cup tahini
1 tablespoon maca powder (I used the gelatinized version)
1 teaspoon cinnamon
Pinch of sea salt
Line muffin tin with parchment paper or cups
Melt cacao butter in glass bowl over steaming water
Take bowl off steaming water and stir in tahini, maca, cinnamon, salt
Pit dates and smush them on bottom of parchment paper cups
Pour mixture into cups as desired (I filled 6 cups evenly)
Sprinkle with cacao nibs // bee pollen // any other topping you like -- the cacao nibs are my personal favorite
Freeze for 4 hours + store in freezer if not consuming right away
Enjoy them lovelies!
